Shots :(

Another snowy day today. We ventured out to my work so I could get my TB test read, and Owen got to meet a bunch of my coworkers. He was so good and even smiled at a few of them. Everyone was amazed at what a big boy he is, and they all wanted to pinch his chubby cheeks. After we visited for a little bit we met Daddy across the street at the pediatrician to get the rest of Owen's 6 month shots. He had to get two today, poor little guy.

He was such a champ. She poked him and I swear to you he cried for about 5 seconds. I put him back down and he was playing with the table paper and laughing at daddy. I was so proud of my little bear. He even let me and Justin eat some pizza in the hospital lobby.

We ordered Owen's big boy car seat yesterday. I cannot wait for it to come. Owen is super smashed in the infant seat. The manual says he can stay in it for 30 lbs and 30 inches, but I think they are crazy! I will make sure to post a picture of his new car seat when it gets here.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I know I am not working, so I will for sure!!!

Adventures in Baby Food

We started Owen on solids when he turned 5 months old. We started with rice cereal, and oatmeal. After he adjusted to the cereals, I started making him homemade baby food. So far he has had: Avocado, Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato, Bananas, Applesauce, Pears, Peaches, and Green Beans. He hated Avocado, and gags when I give him applesauce and green beans. His favorite hands down are pears. I really love making his baby food. I like that I know exactly what is in his food, and I enjoy cooking for him. Sometimes it can be a bit of a pain, but I think it is worth it. Plus it is definitely cheaper most of the time. Yesterday I steamed up some carrots and pureed them for Owen's dinner. At first he was not sure if he liked them.

Then he was gagging.

Then, once we gave him free reign to be messy, he decided to maybe like them!

SNOW DAY!!!!

Well it feels like a snow day to me at least! I worked all weekend, so I am lucky enough to have today off. It started snowing last night and hasn't stopped. It is actually really pretty out, and yes, I can only say this because I don't have to leave the house or drive in it today. If only Justin was home to play with me and Owen, then it would be like a real snow day!!!! But either way, I have a perfect day planned. We woke up and I sipped on some hot chocolate while me and the little man watched Regis, and then Ellen. Ellen has a special place in our house, because she gave Owen a LOT of the cool stuff he owns. But I will have to blog about that another day when I have more time to blog, and less time to snuggle with Owen. I plan on staying in my pajamas all day and hanging out with my little guy. I can't wait until this time next year when I can take Owen out and pull him around our big backyard in a sled. We can build snowmen with carrot noses that my dog Billy will probably knock off, and then our other dog Martini will steal. I can't believe that this time next year Owen will be well on his way to 2! He is growing so fast. Since I am too lazy (and cold!) to get dressed and take Owen out in the snow for a picture, you will have to settle for a picture we took of him the first time it really snowed, a month or so ago!

TGIF??

It's crazy to me when I look back to Fridays years ago. In elementary school Fridays meant slumber parties at my best friend's house. In high school, Friday nights meant football games and National Coney Island. In college, Fridays meant going up to East Lansing for the weekend to spend times with friends, or going out on a night on the town back here at home. More recently, Fridays meant date nights and playing Wii with the hubby, or out with my girlfriends for dinner and drinks.

Today my Friday consisted of something much different, but so much more fulfilling. Gone are the Fridays spent getting my hair done, going to the tanning salon, and picking out an outfit for the night. Today I woke up with my son laying next to me sleeping peacefully. We ate breakfast and played with his favorite toy at the moment, his exersaucer. We practiced sitting up and we sang songs. And oh, did we laugh. Owen thinks his mama is hilarious!!! I rocked him to sleep, and he napped in my arms. And of course he jumped and jumped. He LOVES to jump! Tonight, Friday night, will mean the same as nearly every Friday night as of late. Pizza with daddy (well sweet potatoes for Owen), bathtime, cuddle with mama and read books, and bedtime. If we are feeling crazy tonight, my friend Julie might come by with the Future Mrs. Owen, Lexi.

Do I miss the Friday nights of my past? Absolutely! But I would never in a million years trade in how I spent my Friday today.... with the most beautiful baby boy I have ever seen.

Owen's First Valentine's Day!!

Today was Owen's first Valentine's day, but more importantly, it was Daddy's 27th Birthday!Happy Birthday to my best friend, who is a wonderful husband, and an even more amazing Father.

Owen and I spent the morning together while Daddy went ice fishing with Grampa. It is so cute to hear Justin talk about how excited he will be when he can took Owen fishing. After Justin got home we went to his parents to celebrate his birthday, along with both of my sister in law's birthdays, Gee and Shannon. Owen had a really good day today!!! Sometimes when we take him to big family parties he has minor melt downs, but today he was perfect. He smiled and played,
and we all had a great day.

Happy Valentine's Day!!! This post wouldn't be complete without some pics of my favorite Valentine :)
